WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After two consecutive wins against top-20 opponents, the William and Mary football team garnered national rankings in both major Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) polls this week. W&M is ranked No. 23 in The Sports Network Poll, while it is tied for 24th in the Coaches Poll.

W&M returns to the national rankings for the first time since late in the 2011 season. At the time, the Tribe had been ranked for 46 consecutive weeks, which represented the nation’s fourth-longest active streak.

The College (6-3, 3-2) is coming off impressive victories against then-No. 19/16 James Madison and then-No. 16/17 New Hampshire, as the Tribe shutout UNH and allowed just seven points versus JMU.

W&M boasts one of the nation’s top defenses this season and currently leads the country in scoring defense (12.4).

The Tribe will square off against a ranked opponent for the third consecutive week when it plays at No. 15/21 Delaware on Saturday at 3 p.m. The contest will be televised by Comcast SportsNet.
