WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After posting an outstanding performance in the William and Mary football team’s shutout victory against No. 16 New Hampshire, sophomore linebacker Luke Rhodes has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week.

Rhodes led the Tribe’s defense by matching a career high with 13 tackles, including five solo stops.

The shutout marked the first time New Hampshire had been blanked since being held scoreless by the Tribe in 1995 – a span of 220 games. UNH entered the contest averaging 35.4 points per game. Additionally, W&M held the Wildcats to a season low 312 yards and limited UNH to just 3-of-15 on third downs.

Rhodes is the Tribe’s second-leading tackler this season and ranks 10th in the CAA with 8.4 stops per game.

With the shutout, W&M now leads the nation (FCS) in scoring defense (12.4), while it ranks eighth in total defense (303.9).

The Tribe will look for its third consecutive victory against a ranked opponent when it plays at Delaware this Saturday at 3 p.m. The contest will be televised by Comcast SportsNet.
