The Redskins announced that they have re-signed pending free agent defensive lineman Chris Baker.
Baker played in 15 games for the Redskins last year, starting three. The 26-year-old out of Hampton recorded one sack and 16 tackles.
Much of his value to the defense comes from his flexibility. He logged a substantial number of snaps at both defensive tackle spots and at nose tackle. In 2014 Baker will either continue to contribute in the line rotation or it’s possible he will start at end if the team makes some salary cap moves.
Baker came into the league as an undrafted free agent signee of the Broncos in 2009. After a cup of coffee there and with the Dolphins he signed on to the Redskins’ practice squad in 2011. He was moved up to the 53-man roster later that year but he suffered a quad injury before he could appear in a game.
Baker appeared in 14 games in 2012.
ESPN 980 is reporting that the contract is worth $12 million over three years with $4 million guaranteed.
Tomsula was out of football in 2016 after serving as the 49ers head coach for the 2015 season in which the team finished 5-11.
Despite struggling as a head coach, Tomsula gained an odd, if not heavy cult following. It made little sense considering he has the look and demeanor of someone who was put on this earth to coach football and coach football only. But through the glories of the internet came this:
It's just a demo, and I suppose the full version could be out there somewhere since this song is over a year old. But there's something hypnotizing about 60 consecutive seconds of "Open up my shirt like im Jimmy Tom-Sula."
How long before we begin hearing this song at FedEx Field on Sundays?
