Many Redskins fans have their eye on Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks as a possible big-play addition to their team’s offense. But according to a report, it appears that Nicks is in the “buyer beware” category of free agents.
Ian Rapoport reported on the NFL Network that Nicks is not expected to return to the Giants. The team that drafted Nicks in the first round in 2009 will let him walk for two reasons.
First, he has battled injury and ineffectiveness over the past two seasons. In 2012 he had nagging foot and knee injuries all year that caused him to miss three games. After gaining over 2,200 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns combined in 2010-2011 he has fallen off to a little over 1,500 yards and three TD’s.
Perhaps more disturbing is Rapoport's report that during the 2013 Nicks has been fined repeatedly for being late to meetings and for missing injury treatment sessions. The fines for these transgressions amounted to “thousands” of dollars per incident.
Nicks has talent, no question about it. But the Redskins or any team that might be considering signing him needs to consider that if he acts like this in a contract year, how will he behave when he has millions of guaranteed dollars?
Tomsula was out of football in 2016 after serving as the 49ers head coach for the 2015 season in which the team finished 5-11.
Despite struggling as a head coach, Tomsula gained an odd, if not heavy cult following. It made little sense considering he has the look and demeanor of someone who was put on this earth to coach football and coach football only. But through the glories of the internet came this:
It's just a demo, and I suppose the full version could be out there somewhere since this song is over a year old. But there's something hypnotizing about 60 consecutive seconds of "Open up my shirt like im Jimmy Tom-Sula."
How long before we begin hearing this song at FedEx Field on Sundays?
