As you might imagine, the praise for Alex Ovechkin and his ability to score his 500th and 501st NHL goals in his 801st NHL game was pretty effusive Sunday night following the Capitals’ 7-1 win ove


Nicklas Backstrom and Braden Holtby will join Alex Ovechkin in this year's NHL All-Star game. Holtby's inclusion is no surprise while Backstrom's invitation is long overdue.


It’s taken him his entire NHL career and some grandstanding by Capitals coach Barry Trotz, but Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom will finally be playing in an NHL All-Star Game.   


The Capitals and Dallas Stars are the only two teams in the NHL that have gone the entire season without suffering consecutive regulation losses.
