The Redskins signed former Cowboys defensive lineman Frank Kearse and three college free agents who attended rookie minicamp in Ashburn this weekend.

To make room on the 90-man roster, the team released safety Jose Gumbs and three undrafted prospects.

Gumbs appeared in eight games last season, including one start, and made one interception.

The new college free agents are: cornerbacks Courtney Bridget (Hampton) and Blake Sailors (Georgia) as well as safety Ross Madison (Toledo).

Meantime, nose tackle Chris Davenport (Tulane), tight end Kevin Perry (UTEP) and quarterback Tommy Rees (Notre Dame) were waived. All three had been signed as college free agents in recent days.

“We saw a lot of good things from a lot of different people,” head coach Jay Gruden said before the moves were made. “Unfortunately, we only have 90 guys that we can bring to camp. These guys did the best they could and that’s all we could ask for.  It’s very, very difficult to make an NFL roster.”
