The Redskins finally have a backup fullback.
The team announced the signing of fullback Stephen Campbell. He is a product of West Virginia Wesleyan, where he played tight end. The Colts signed him earlier this year as an undrafted free agent earlier this year after seeing him in the NFL regional combine in Detroit. They released him in May.
During all of the offseason program, Darrel Young has been the only fullback on the roster. Campbell is very much a long shot to make the 53-man roster but he will be able to work with the backups in training camp and get a substantial number of snaps during the preseason.
The Redskins do not need to make a move to create a roster spot for Campbell. They were at 89 players after the league suspended safety Tanard Jackson last week.
