OPEN THREAD: Will the Redskins move into 1st round?

Sure, in this space, we like to discuss topics impacting the Washington Redskins. Sometimes the matters of the NFL require us to step away from the Skins, especially on the first day of the NFL Draft when the Redskins lack a pick.

But let's try and tie things together: Will the Redskins end up with a first round pick? There is some speculation that a trade of backup quarterback Kirk Cousins could net Washington a first round pick. Especially with Kyle Shanahan, a noted Cousins supporter, now running the offense in Cleveland. Oh yeah, the Browns have an extra first round pick (No. 26) thanks to trading Trent Richardson.

So any chance the deal happens? Few would grade Cousins a first-round talent, but teams get desperate for quarterbacks, and Shanahan knows what Cousins can do. A quick Google search of Kirk Cousins and Cleveland Browns provides a lot of speculation, but little facts.  Adding gas to the fire, the Redskins signed career backup Colt McCoy to a contract this offseason. If Cousins is moved, McCoy is there to prove a capable backup.

Important to remember: Robert Griffin III is not too far removed from a complete surgical reconstruction of his knee. A good backup is important anywhere in the NFL, but particularly with a young QB that has injury history.

So what do you think? Will a deal happen? Will the Browns actually give a first for Cousins? And if offered, does Bruce Allen and the Skins accept?

Let us know what you think in the comments.

**I rarely do this, but call it Draft Day hysteria, here's my take: This is just smoke, and Cleveland takes one of the four rookie QBs between Manziel, Bortles, Bridgewater or Carr. I find it hard to believe the Skins get a 1 for Cousins. Now if an offer comes for a 2nd, or certainly a 3rd, the conversation changes.**
