2016-17 NBA Awards: All-Wizards Edition

2016-17 NBA Awards: All-Wizards Edition

On Monday night, the NBA's best and brightest will converge in New York City for the first annual NBA Awards.

In years past, the NBA's annual awards have been revealed throughout the playoffs, but for the first time ever, all the awards will be handed out on one night.

The Wizards are up for one award: "Best Playoff Moment."

The Wizards we're bounced in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, but John Wall's Game 6 buzzer-beater was arguably the top moment of the 2016-17 playoffs. While the Wizards aren't up for any other awards, we decided to hand some out in advance.

Wizards' MVP: John Wall

— John Wall wasn't just the Wizards' MVP, but one of the NBA's best players in 2016-17. In fact, other than LeBron James, Wall is arguably the best player in the Eastern Conference. He may not win the NBA MVP award, but he's definitely one of the 5-10 potential candidates.

Wizards' Most Improved Player: Bradley Beal

— Bradley Beal's 2016-17 season was injury-free, and in-turn, was his best season as a pro. He increased his points per game from 17.4 to 23.1 and improved his shooting from both the field and from beyond the arc. The Wizards had the second best backcourt in the NBA in 2016-17, and Beal was a huge reason why.

Wizards' Best Newcomer: Scott Brooks

— The NBA Coach of the Year award is likely headed to Houston's Mike D'Antoni or Miami's Erik Spoelstra. But Brooks deserves recognition. In his first season with the Wizards, the former Thunder head coach led the team to 49 wins and within one game of the Eastern Conference Finals. Of all the additions the Wizards made last offseason, Brooks' was the most significant.

Wizards' Most Quotable: Markieff Morris

— Markieff Morris wins this one in a landslide

Wizards' Best Dressed: Kelly Oubre

— he wore a customized surgeon's mask to a game. It's his award and everybody else is just playing games.

Honorable Mention: Jason Smith

— The 7-footer was a great addition in his first season with the Wizards, improved his range and became a credible threat from beyond the arc off the bench, and was one of the most entertaining players on the team. He didn't win any awards, but he deserves some recognition.
