George Mason redshirt junior forward Paris Bennett will graduate this spring and transfer out of the program, the school announced in a release Wednesday evening.
Bennett received a medical redshirt in 2010 after missing much of the previous season due to injury. That allows him to graduate with one year of collegiate eligibility remaining.
By rule, Bennett is eligible to play immediately at the school of his choice next season under the NCAA's graduate transfer exemption. As long as Bennett pursues a graduate degree in a program not available at Mason, he is eligible to play his final collegiate year in 2013-14 without sitting out the one season typically mandated by the NCAA.
“I would like to thank Paris for his dedication and hard work over the last few years,” George Mason coach Paul Hewitt said in a release. “We wish him well moving forward.”
Bennett averaged 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game this past season, including a season-high 13-point performance on Jan. 10 vs. Old Dominion.
