Ready to get down and dirty? Run Amuck, the mud and obstacle run offering plenty of messy fun for ages eight and above, returns to Marine Corps Base Quantico on Saturday, June 14.
There are limited spots to register at www.marinemarathon.com for the event that presents 21 arduous challenges, military-style PT stations and enormous pits of ooey-gooey mud. Participants will journey through Run Amuck's four-mile quest in separate waves from 7 to 11 a.m. Runners will want to take dad on this messy escapade through "mudder nature" as Run Amuck is held the day prior to Father's Day - a gift more unique than the traditional tie.
The new Run Amuck course calls participants to sludge through the trenches, lumber through low crawls, angle over A-frames and indulge in super sloppy mud pits while twisting and turning over Quantico's mammoth hills and wooded terrain.
Run Amuckers will face the giant spider web, 20-foot pipe slither, ammo can scramble, cargo net climb and 40-foot inflatable obstacles while hitting the mud-laden trenches and immense mud pits.
There will also be a Mini Run Amuck, a two-mile version of the course inviting adventurers to take on an abbreviated challenge over muddy trails, obstacles and steep hills.
Registration costs $45 for Run Amuck and $25 for Mini Run Amuck. All participants will receive a technical "Out for Mud" competitor T-shirt, runner's bib, commemorative towel and Run Amuck finisher chip.
