All six members of the Capitals’ 2014 draft class will take part in the team’s annual development camp, which begins Monday and runs through July 12 at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

The camp will include 23 Capitals prospects total plus several undrafted and free agent amateur players. All on-ice sessions are free and open to the public, including the three intrasquad scrimmages which are scheduled for the final three days of the camp (full schedule included below).

Washington’s No.1 rated prospect outside the NHL, Andre Burakovsky (2013 NHL Draft; RD1, 23rd overall), will take part in the camp after an impressive rookie campaign in the Ontario Hockey League. Burakovsky had 41 goals and 87 points in 57 games with the Erie Otters and was named the OHL’s Player of the Month for March.

Defenseman Madison Bowey (2013 NHL Draft; RD2; 53rd overall) will also participate in his second development camp in as many years after captaining the Kelowna Rockets to the best record (57-11-0-4) in the Western Hockey League last season.

Bowey signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Capitals in April after recording 21 goals and 60 points in 72 games with Kelowna in 2013-14. The 6-0”, 195-pound defenseman will also participate in Hockey Canada’s Summer Development Camp set for Aug.3-8.

Chandler Stephenson (2012 NHL Draft; RD3, 77th overall) is expected to take part in his first professional season in 2014-15, after he notched career-highs of 30 goals and 89 points in 69 games last year with the WHL’s Regina Pats. Stephenson appeared in two games with the AHL’s Hershey Bears late last season, recording his first career professional goal.

The 5’11” 194-pound right wing had a team-high 19 goals and 44 points in 38 games last season, and captained Team USA at the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships.

Development camp wraps up Saturday July 12 with the Capitals’ Fan Fest which will include the team’s annual equipment sale, the final intrasquard scrimmage and an autograph session with head coach Barry Trotz and select prospects.
