After several seasons of trade deadline duds, it seems like the week before is really when all of the action happens.
St. Louis has tried to keep that trend going with a major blockbuster deal, bringing in goalie Ryan Miller and forward Steve Ott from Buffalo in exchange for goalie Jaroslav Halak, forward Chris Stewart and prospect William Carrier along with a 2015 first-round draft pick and a 2016 third-round draft pick.

So how good did this trade make St. Louis? Without Miller, is there any team as woeful as the Buffalo Sabres?
And what about the Caps? Just where do they stand as they try to fight back into the playoffs?
