Fifteen minutes after signing Evgeny Kuznetsov, Capitals GM George McPhee spoke with the media to discuss the near future of Kuznetsov in Washington.
"Right now is the big adjustment," said McPhee of the youngster getting his time in the NHL. The GM added, "it helps a lot" when young players have the chance to get time in the league.
Noting getting Kuznetsov to Washington today took three flights, the first leg of which was delayed "at least an hour" according to the GM, McPhee said his ice time depends on how well the rookie feels.
Recalling when Kuznetsov was drafted, McPhee knew the Caps, "might not see him for a couple years." Also adding they "didn't expect it to be four [years]."
