The Washington Capitals signed forward Nathan Walker to an entry-level contract on Friday, a three-year deal for the Australia native.
Walker, 20, was taken by the Capitals in the third round (89th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. The 5-foot-9 wing played 43 games with the Hershey Bears last season, recording 11 points (five goals, six assists) and 40 penalty minutes.
In 2012-13, Walker played with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL. There he posted 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists) and 63 penalty minutes in 29 games.
Walker also represented Australia at the IIHF World Championship in 2011 and 2012. Walker is the first Australian to ever be drafted in the NHL.
