Capitals forward Martin Erat confirmed on Monday that he has demanded a trade and has given Capitals general manager George McPhee a list of teams for which he will play.

Here’s a quick transcript from today:

On whether he has demanded a trade:

Erat: “Yes I want to be traded and see how it goes.”

On the biggest reason for his trade request:

Erat: “Since Day One I didn’t get the chance here. I got traded here to be a top six player and I never got the chance, never played more than 15 minutes here and it’s time for me to move on.”

On when he first thought of asking for a trade:

“It’s a long time coming, from training camp. I didn’t get any chance, any look, and it’s time for me to go.”

On what George McPhee said to him in their meeting:

“Nothing at all. He knows what I feel and he’s just go through it.”

On if he felt this way at the end of last season:

“It’s a little bit from last year. In games I played 12-13 minutes. One game I think I played 15 minutes and that was it.”

On if he’s given McPhee a list of teams he will play for:

“Yes, I did.”

On his level of frustration:

“I don’t fit here. It’s black and white. It’s just time for me to go. … For me, it’s time for me to move on. I’m focused on this, it’s my job, and I prove everybody I can try to play the best I can. But for me it’s time to look at different options.”
