Redskins fans seemed ready to embrace new defensive lineman Jason Hatcher, even though he comes to Washington from the rival Cowboys. In two games against the Redskins last season, Hatcher logged two sacks and forced a fumble. He was a force, and Washington left tackle Trent Williams held little back when he heard the news of Hatcher heading to the Skins.
Williams excitement comes with good reason; not only do the Redskins gain a strong interior pass rusher but the signing hurts their rival. In 2013 Hatcher totalled 11 sacks and two forced fumbles. The 11 sacks by Hatcher would have been good for the No. 1 spot on Washington's defense; outside linebacker Brian Orakpo led the team wth 10 sacks.
No word yet from RG3, who will no longer be chased by Hatcher, but somewhere the quarterback is probably smiling. One less thing to worry about.
For his part, Hatcher likes his new team.
I'm proud to say I will be joining the Redskins. God is good. Work time!!!!— BIG DADDY (@hatcher97) March 13, 2014
