The uniforms that the Redskins unveiled last weeks are throwbacksall the way back to 1994.That season was the NFLs 75th and as part of the celebration teams wore uniforms that celebrated the history of the franchise. It was the first widespread use of the throwbacks and it started a trend that fans either love or hate.As you can see from the picture below (courtesy of Redskins.com), the jerseys were the true burgundy color we see in the 2012 special editions and the gold numbers look similar. The helmets were all burgundy with no logos and the pants were a darker shade of gold than those that the team will sport this year.It may be deja vu to some but to Redskins fans who lived through that 1994 season the uniform doesnt invoke much in the way of pleasant memories. With John Friesz, Health Shuler, and Gus Frerotte playing quarterback, that team went 3-13 in Norv Turners first year as head coach. The old old uniform is the top picture (thats Shuler in the picture, by the way). And at the bottom is Brian Orakpo with the new old threads.Do you like one better than the other? Let us know in the comments.
