Linebacker Darryl Tapp’s tenure with the Redskins lasted just one season.
Tapp tweeted on Thursday that he’s heading to the Lions, writing, “It was an honor and pleasure to play for my favorite team growing up …now my journey continues in the “D” …#Lionblood.”
Tapp, 29, was a reserve last season, playing only 86 snaps on defense spread over 11 games. The Portsmouth, Va. native and Virginia Tech product finished with 10 combined tackles and a sack. He also recorded one tackle on special teams.
In Detroit, Tapp is expected to replace Willie Young as a reserve defense end after Young signed with the Bears.
