If Robert Griffin III is angry or disappointed or something in between over being shut down for the rest of the season he sure isn’t showing it on the practice field.

Griffin has been making the best of the bad situation he’s been put in. “He’s been great. He’s been great,” said Mike Shanahan, who made the decision to bench the 2012 rookie of the year. “He’s done everything we’ve asked him to do and he’s been up-tempo and taking advantage of the reps that he gets and relating it to some of the terminology that we have. Anytime you get reps, regardless if it’s with the first, second or third team, or even doing the scout team on the other side, you can take advantage of it and he did.”

Kirk Cousins, the former backup who is now slated to start the last three games of the season, echoed Shanahan’s sentiments.

"Robert's been great,'' Cousins said. "I asked him about different concepts and how he thinks certain plays should be read and your footwork on it.

"He's been very helpful, very positive. He's taken the high road.”

Cousins reemphasized something he said during his news conference on Wednesday. "This doesn't change the fact that he's our franchise quarterback,” he said.

Griffin finds himself in the unusual if not unprecedented position of being a franchise quarterback who is 100 percent healthy but watching games in street clothes. After saying all the right things in his press conference on Wednesday, Griffin is taking the high road on the field as well.
