RG3 says he’s back.
The Redskins quarterback told ESPN 980 that he feels like he has completely recovered from the reconstructive knee surgery he has last January.
"I would say I'm 100 percent, but you can't put a number on it," he said via John Keim of ESPN. "No one ever knows when they are 100 percent or what percentage they're playing at. The biggest thing is, I'm not below 100 percent."
Even though it was the second time he tore his ACL, Griffin things that he has not lost any of his speed.
"If I had to run a 40 today at the combine in my underwear, I feel like I could run a 4.3-something," he said.
Griffin was officially clocked at 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in 2012 but he ran one that was unofficially timed at 4.38.
Griffin believing that he is at 100 percent is one thing but at least two other people must be convinced. Dr. James Andrews, the orthopedic surgeon who operated on Griffin’s knee last January, is expected to examine him on Thursday prior to the Redskins’ preseason game in Tampa. If Andrews agrees that Griffin is good to go for the Sept. 9 season opener then Mike Shanahan will have the final word.
