Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is out of surgery, according to Comcast SportsNet’s Chick Hernandez.
Griffin had the LCL and ACL in his right knee repaired by Dr. James Andrews at the renowned orthopedic surgeon’s office near Pensacola, Fla., earlier Wednesday morning, according to Hernandez. The rookie reinjured his ailing knee during the Redskins’ season ending loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.
“Surgery went well according to Robert Griffin Jr.” Hernandez tweeted earlier this hour.
Although a timetable for Griffin’s recovery remains unclear, RG3 has hinted that expects to be back next season.
“Thank you for your prayers and support,” Griffin tweeted Wednesday morning, presumably before having the surgery. I love God, my family, my team, the fans & I love this game. See you guys next season.”
We’ll have more on this developing story, including an update on Griffin and player reaction, here at CSNWashington.com and on Comcast SportsNet in the coming hours.
