Yes, it was just two days ago that we passed along a report that the Redskins would accept a second-round draft pick in exchange for the services of backup quarterback Kirk Cousins

Now we're hearing, hey, not so fast. Now ESPN's Adam Schefter says that Cousins is not available at any price.

On the face of them, the two reports are contradictory. Either they will trade Cousins if someone offers a second-rounder or they won't. But perhaps they leaked the no-trade information to Schefter to try to establish that they aren't shopping the quarterback, looking for the best offer with the negotiations starting at a second. In other words, they have no intention of trading him unless they get an offer they can't refuse. And they probably won't be able to refuse a second.

Stay tuned. Just as the announced price of a second didn't guarantee that Cousins will eventually be traded, this no-trade report doesn't guarantee he will be in burgundy and gold for Week 1 of the 2014 season. It's all about posturing and negotiating through the media at this point and the process is just beginning.
