It’s been a busy day at Redskins Park. A second draft pick has signed his contract.
The Redskins top pick, David Amerson, is in the fold after agreeing to terms. Amerson was taken out of North Carolina State in the second round (51st overall).
Earlier today, fourth-round safety Phillip Thomas signed his contract. Of the Redskins’ seven draft picks just tight end Jordan Reed, taken in the third round, unsigned.
As usual, terms were not disclosed. All draft picks sign four-year deals. The money should come to about the same as that made by the Packers’ Jerel Worthy, the 51st pick in the 2012 draft. His deal was for $3.95 million with a $1.3 million signing bonus.
Amerson was added to try to shore up the Redskins’ shaky secondary and he will compete for playing time at cornerback.
