The Redskins may still be in the running to land wide receiver Kenny Britt.
That is, if Britt ever decides where he wants to play.
Britt has visited four teams, including the Redskins. A week ago he indicated that he would decide on his next steps over the weekend. That weekend came and went and there have been no next steps, no visits or signings.
During the NFL owners meets earlier this week, the word was that Britt would decide on a new team by Thursday. Rams GM Les Snead was quite confident of his team’s chances of signing Britt, telling Pro Football Talk that the chances of that happening were “better than 50 percent”.
But Thursday has come and gone and Britt remains a free agent. It is believed that the Redskins still have interest in him. But, if their modus operandi of this free agency period stays consistent, they won’t get involved in any sort of bidding war for the services of the talented but troubled receiver.
Britt looked like a rising star after the Titans made him a first-round pick in the 2009 draft. But he suffered a torn ACL in the third game of the 2011 season and he has yet to regain his form of 2009-2010 when he averaged 17.6 yards on 84 receptions.
He has had numerous brushes with the law, raising red flags in addition to the ones stemming from the knee injury. Among the charges he has faced are DUI (2012), resisting arrest (2011) and theft by deception (2011).
