If the Redskins are well know for wanting all of the sought-after free agents out there. This year one of their own will be among the most coveted players when free agency starts on March 11.

Chris Wesseling of ranked the top 25 players expected to be available as free agents and Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo came in at No. 3. Saints tight end Jimmy Graham tops the list and defensive end Greg Hardy is second.

The list is top heavy with players who can get after the quarterback. There are four defensive ends and outside linebackers in the top 10 with Michael Johnson of the Bengals and Lamarr Houston of the Raiders joining Orakpo and Hardy.

That could work in the Redskins if, as expected, they try to keep Orakpo. The law of supply and demand could kick in as teams looking for a top pass rusher have four options instead of just one or two. That could lower the asking price somewhat.

Regardless, the Redskins are going to have to pay something in the neighborhood of $8 to $10 million per year over about five years in order to keep Orakpo. That’s still a lot of cash and a good chunk of salary cap room.
