Kedric Golston found out about firing via Twitter
With the Redskins’ 2013 season winding down, CSNWashington.com will be keeping an eye on the upcoming college bowl games and the NFL prospects who could be on Washington’s radar in 2014 draft.
What: Outback Bowl
Who: LSU (-7) vs Iowa
When: Wednesday Jan. 1, 1 p.m. ET ESPN
Players to watch:
The Outback Bowl pits two of the best teams from the Big Ten and the SEC, usually resulting in a good game with lots of hard hitting. LSU against Iowa should produce similar results, but on the Bayou Bengals side a pair of receivers could be intriguing for the Redskins in the NFL Draft.
Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry were two stars on the LSU team this season, both making acrobatic catches and showing serious speed. The Redskins offense floundered at times in 2013 and the team lacks a second receiver to complement Pierre Garçon. Both LSU receivers are juniors and would need to declare early for the draft. If that was to happen, it's possible the Skins could look to add a gifted weapon for quarterback Robert Griffin III next season early in the second round.
Hawkeyes linebacker Christian Kirksey could make a good middle-round pick for Washington. With London Fletcher retired and a number of question marks along the defense, the 6'2", 235 lb. Kirksey could give Washington a strong tackler. In the Hawkeyes regular season finale win over Nebraska, Kirksey made 11 tackles and had a sack.
