The Redskins have an agreement in principle to re-sign linebacker Rob Jackson, according to a source with knowledge of the deal.

It’s a one-year contract extension instead of the one-year RFA tender; the paperwork is expected to be completed Sunday. Jackson can now become an unrestricted free agent following the 2013 season.

Jackson began the 2012 campaign as a reserve but stepped into the starting lineup in Week 3 after Brian Orakpo was lost for the season. The 27-year-old finished with career highs in tackles (37), sacks (4.5) and interceptions (4).

Earlier in the day, the Redskins came to terms with two other restricted free agents -- fullback Darrel Young and tight end Logan Paulsen. Both Young and Paulsen inked three-year extensions.
