Haslett on Manning: "He sees everything."

Redskins Post Game Live

Facing Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos requires a full complement of defensive backs, and that's a luxury the Redskins do not have.

Injuries and suspensions have the left the Redskins extremely thin at safety, and to help, Washington brought back recently released Jordan Pugh.

"It feels good," Pugh said to be back with the Redskins. "A whole lot better than being at home."

Pugh has played in 16 regular season games with the Skins in 2012 and 2013, and he last played for Washington in the win over Oakland. Pugh practiced with the team throughout the entire offseason as well.

"It's good to be back in a situation that you know," Pugh said. "Whenever my number is called upon I will be ready to go. I'm always ready. Playing a team like Denver all DBs have to be ready to go.”

It's unclear how many, if any, snaps Pugh will get for the Skins defense this weekend, but somebody will have to play. With Brandon Meriweather suspended and Reed Doughty working his way back from a concussion, the Skins need help at both safety positions.

The trouble in the defensive backfield is exacerbated with the team facing the offensive juggernaut that is Denver. Manning leads the NFL with an average of more than 360 yards passing per game.

When news broke that Pugh was back with the Redskins, he said he got a call from a friend who joked "that's one hell of a game to come back to."

Washington's defense knows the challenge Maning presents, and if given the chance, Pugh looks forward to the opportunity.

"Might as well come back to face the best," he said. "That’s what you want, to face the best."
