OPEN THREAD: Redskins make cuts, few surprises

The Redskins made a series of roster moves Tuesday, cutting veterans Adam Carriker and Sav Rocca along with young players like Jawan Jamison.

Few Skins fans would blink at the cuts. Carriker has not played since Week 2 of 2012, and Rocca had a poor perfomance in 2013, ranking near the bottom in most meaningful categories for punters and is 40 years old. Though selected in last season's seventh round of the NFL Draft, Jamison never hit the field for Washington.

Much talk on Carriker's contract centered around the possibility that the Redskins would cut the oft-injured defensive tackle to save salary cap space, but bring the veteran back on an incentive-laden new deal. Sources inside Redskins Park say there will be no new contract offer for Carriker, which might signal the end of the line for the former first-round pick out of Nebraska. The Redskins will obviously have to replace all of the players, but punter must be the highest priority considering Carriker and Jamison did not see the field in 2013.

Any surprises by the team? Would an incentive deal for Carriker have been a wise move? Or even a fair move, with all the hard rehab work Carriker has put in? Sad to see any of these players go? Let us know what you think in the comments.
