The mother of Redskins wide receiver Joshua Morgan, who works in the Navy Yard in the building where shootings took place today, is OK.
Morgan, a native of Washington, DC, was unsure of the status of his mother, Lawanda Ware Brown, who is a Department of Defense employee, when he talked to reporters just before noon today. He said that he tried to call her multiple times after he found out about the incident but he was unable to get in touch with her.
A short time later Morgan’s mother was able to get in touch with some of the player’s relatives and they got word to him that she was safe and unhurt.
This is not the first time that Morgan has had to fear for his mother’s safety while she was at work. Morgan said that she was stationed at the Pentagon the day of the September 11, 2001 attacks. She was unharmed in that incident as well.
