During Thursday’s OTA session at Redskins Park, reporters got their first opportunity of the offseason to take a look at the injured Redskins.
Here’s a quick a list of the players who weren’t wearing a jersey and, thus, have not been medically cleared to participate in team drills. Many of them did, however, take part in light drill work off to the side.
- Robert Griffin III (knee surgery)
- London Fletcher (elbow, ankle surgery)
- Pierre Garçon (shoulder surgery)
- Brandon Meriweather (ACL surgery)
- Jordan Reed (knee/thigh)
- Roy Helu (toe surgery)
- Keenan Robinson (pectoral surgery)
- Josh Wilson (shoulder surgery)
- Fred Davis (Achilles’ tendon surgery)
- Josh LeRibeus (hamstring pull)
- Maurice Hurt (groin muscle pull)
- Doug Worthington (undisclosed)
- Chris Thompson (ACL surgery)
- Jordan Bernstine (knee surgery)
Most of the injuries were previously reported. The injuries to Garçon and Wilson, however, were not.
Garçon told ESPN’s ‘NFL Live’ on Thursday that he had surgery on a torn labrum in his shoulder. Although the wide receiver did not specify which shoulder, the injury occurred in the loss to Seattle.
“I think Pierre, his rehab has been unbelievable,” Coach Mike Shanahan said. “I mean anytime you get operated on like he did and you’re able to come back as quickly as he has …I was watching him this morning in the weight room and he’s lifting weights he shouldn’t be able to lift. He’s in excellent shape, so I’ll be surprised if he’s not full speed and ready to go once we go to training camp.”
Shanahan also revealed that Wilson had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder.
“It was a labrum tear and he had a little bit with the pec, too,” Shanahan said. “He played through [it] the whole season. It was sore and he played through it. Then he went in there for surgery and it was worse than they thought it was. He’s feeling pretty good.”
The injury that really bears watching is the one to defensive end Adam Carriker, who has been out since Week 2 because of torn quad tendon. Carriker was not on the field in any capacity and instead was inside the building rehabbing, according to Shanahan.
Kicker Kai Forbath, meantime, had a death in the family and was not present.
