Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh is quite familiar with new Redskins coach Jay Gruden. Gruden ran the offense for the Bengals the last three seasons, and the Bengals face the Ravens twice each year as AFC North foes.

While Gruden was running the Bengals offense, his Cincinnati teams lost more than they won against the Ravens, but the coach still made an impression on Harbaugh.

"The fundamentals were so well executed," Harbaugh said of Gruden. "That's a sign of a good coach."

Harbaugh described the Gruden offense as a West Coast style, with an emphasis of short routes and getting the ball out of the quarterback's hands quick. That should be good news for the Redskins considering injury issues with Robert Griffin III. Less hits on RG3 is a priority for Washington, and quicker routes should help in that quest.

The results will play out, but clearly Gruden has respect from peers around the NFL.
