What was reported shortly after Jay Gruden was named the Redskins' head coach has been confirmed by Gruden himself.

The Redskins have confirmed that defensive coordinator Jim Haslett will retain the position he has held for the last four seasons. Mark Maske of the Washington Post also reported that the Redskins will look to extend Haslett's contract. It is believed that Haslett has one year to go on his current deal with the team.

The Redskins also confirmed that offensive line coach Chris Foerster will be retained and that they have hired Wes Phillips as their new tight ends coach.

Later Maske reported that Gruden said that Earnest Byner interviewed with the team today about the job as running backs coach. In addition, Gruden said he expects the Redskins to hire Ike Hilliard as the wide receivers coach.

Both players would be making a return engagement as coaches with the Redskins. Byner coached the running backs from 2004-2007 while Hilliard was the wide receivers coach in 2012.
