Pierre Garçon has the Redskins’ team record for receptions in a season with 107. That has him tied with Steve Smith (2009) for the 35th-most receptions in a season. But with one game to go he has a chance to move up into historic territory.

Garçon has caught at least five passes in every game this season. If he has five today, he will move into an eight-way tie for 18th on the list. Garçon would have some pretty impressive company including Jerry Rice (1994), Sterling Sharpe (1993), and Andre Johnson (2012).

This season Garçon is averaging seven catches per game. Seven receptions today would give him 114 on the year and push him past Rod Smith, a Bronco under Mike Shanahan, into 17th place.

Finally, if he matches his season high of 11 catches (set last week vs. Dallas) he would move into the top 10 all time. With 118 receptions he would tie Brandon Marshall (2012) and Wes Welker (2012) for the 10th post.

The forecast for East Rutherford, NJ today is for a steady rain and a high in the low 40’s. That will make it challenging for Garçon to make history.
