While the Redskins wait and see whether Robert Griffin III will be ready for Week 1, the Eagles now know who they'll have starting under center.

Michael Vick has been named the Eagles' starting quarterback, retaining the role he held for much of last season. He will be tasked with ushering in Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense into the NFL as Philly takes on the Redskins on Monday, Sept. 9 in the season opener.

Vick was competing for the job with Nick Foles who started six games for the Eagles last season. The second year pro will now become Vick's backup with Matt Barkley likely the third option.

Vick is entering his 11th season in the NFL and his fifth with the Eagles. He made his case for the job in two preseason games this year, going 13 for 15 with 199 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
