Bruce Allen and Jay Gruden are likely pleased to ink free agent WR Andre Roberts, but Roberts is very happy about his new team, and he said so on Twitter.
In 16 games with the Arizona Cardinals last season Roberts brought in 43 catches for 471 yards and two touchdowns, down from his 2012 numbers. That season, primarily as a starter, Robert had 64 catches for more than 750 yards and five touchdowns.
The Redskins need a No. 2 option to pair with Pierre Garçon, and with a new 4-year contract worth roughly $16 million, it seems the team believes Roberts can be that guy. At 5'11", Roberts projects to be a slot receiver for Washington, and even in his down 2013 season, his stats would rank as the second-best receiver for Washington.
Drafted in the third round in 2010 by Arizona, Roberts may emerge as another good reciever signing by the Skins, following the success of bringing Garcon to the team after the 2011 season. Regardless what happens next, Roberts certainly seems happy to be heading to D.C.
