Redskins need to be cautious with Griffin, Cousins
Here is what the CSNwashington.com Redskins team will be looking for today out at Redskins Park.
First cutdown day approaching—By 4 p.m. next Tuesday, all NFL teams must trim their active rosters to 75 players. But, as we saw on Hard Knocks last night, teams don’t always wait until the deadline. Could the Turk visit Redskins Park a little early?
Update on Kirk Cousins—A league source confirmed to me yesterday that Cousins didn’t suffer any serious ligament damage in his sprained right foot and that the quarterback “should” be available by Week 1. But with RG3’s status still up in the air, I’m looking forward to hearing Mike Shanahan’s update on Cousins and the QB situation in general.
"Minor" injuries—Some players like Aldrick Robinson and Leonard Hankerson left Monday's game with some injuries that seemed to be minor. But things those that can have a way of flaring up overnight and what seemed to be a little ding becomes a real injury. Will Robinson and Hankerson be good to go on Saturday?
RG3's mindset—In a few interviews since his "I can't b. s. this answer" presser in Richmond last week, it seems that Griffin is going out of his way to emphasize the harmony in his relationship with Mike Shanahan. He speaks to the media today after practice, we will see if there are any words of disagreement or misunderstanding or anything other than complete buy-in with the program.
11:15—Open locker room (interviews with players)
1:00—Practice (only first 30 minutes open to media)
After practice (approx. 3:30)—Robert Griffin III and Mike Shanahan news conferences
