Ballot and comments from AP Pro 32 panel voter Dan Pompei of Chicago Tribune:

Week 8

DAN POMPEI (Chicago Tribune)

1. New York Giants - Is there a better quarterback in the NFL in the final two minutes than Eli Manning?

2. Chicago Bears - They have the best defense in the NFL by a wide margin, and the offense isn't bad either.

3. Atlanta Falcons - The offense is lighting up defenses, and it might be capable of improvement if the run game gets moving.

4. Houston Texans - They look like kings of the AFC. But can they hang in there with NFC teams?

5. San Francisco 49ers - The offensive team from the Canton Greats in Madden would have a hard time scoring on these guys.

6. Green Bay Packers - Losing Charles Woodson could take the edge off this team, but they are rolling now.

7. Minnesota Vikings - Did somebody say Adrian Peterson had an injury? Could have fooled me. And the Cardinals.

8. Baltimore Ravens - This is still a really good team, it just played a really bad game. The Ravens will be back.

9. Seattle Seahawks - The Seahawks are starting to look like a physical, tough team that can make big plays.

10. New England Patriots - This team keeps performing below expectations, perhaps, as Tom Brady has suggested, they have spoiled us and our expectations are too high.

11. Denver Broncos - The Broncos have the feel of a team that might be about to take off.

12. Washington Redskins - They are 3-4, but it feels like they are a Super Bowl contender, all because of RG3.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers - Call them the Pittsburgh yo-yos. All they do is go up and down.

14. Arizona Cardinals - They were No. 1 based on the first four games; they might be No. 32 based on the last three.

15. Dallas Cowboys - The Cowboys have to kick it up a notch with the Giants, Falcons and Eagles next on their schedule.

16. San Diego Chargers - Take a chill pill, everyone. The Chargers still are 3-3, and a pretty talented team.

17. New Orleans Saints - Jonathan Vilma and Joe Vitt are back. Maybe some of the Saints' mojo is back, too.

18. Detroit Lions - The Lions are starting to look like underachievers, but it's still too soon to give up on them.

19. Philadelphia Eagles - Let's see if Michael Vick can get himself back on track against his former team.

20. Miami Dolphins - This team has become very interesting to watch, Ryan Tannehill aside.

21. Indianapolis Colts - The 2012 Colts already have won more games than the 2011 Colts. Unfortunately the 2012 Colts are not competing against the 2011 Colts.

22. Cincinnati Bengals - They will have two full weeks to stew about their three-game losing streak and see if they can't find out what has gone wrong.

23. St. Louis Rams - They go from Aaron Rodgers last week to Tom Brady this week. At least Sam Bradford is getting an education.

24. New York Jets - The Jets lost a tough one Sunday, but at least they showed they can hang with the Patriots.

25. Tennessee Titans - Chris Johnson is going to have to run for a lot of yards if the Titans' defense keeps playing this way.

26. Buffalo Bills - They need to play mistake free offense because they are giving up an average of more than 32 points per game.

27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Like a lot of young teams, the Bucs still haven't mastered the little things that win games.

28. Oakland Raiders - Beating the Jaguars without Maurice Jones-Drew in overtime will not vault the Raiders to the top spot in the rankings.

29. Carolina Panthers - Neither firing Marty Hurney nor yelling at Cam Newton isn't going to turn around the Panthers.

30. Cleveland Browns - Unless Jimmy Haslam can rush the passer, he won't be able to help this team much this year.

31. Kansas City Chiefs - Going to Brady Quinn is the right move for Romeo Crennel.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars - They lost in the Black Hole Sunday, but feel like they've been living in it all season.
