This will be the warmest week in a while, but the water will still be cold. Water temps will stay in the upper 30s, maybe up to 40.

Longer days are bringing a slight warm up, but not enough to change speed…fish slowly! NBC Ch. 4 meteorologist "Weather Kim" Martucci says, “Monday is going to be sunny with highs near 50. A weak cold front on Tuesday will bring showers and a high in the mid 40s before warming into the mid 50s on Wednesday with a slow drop in temperatures into the mid 40s for the weekend. More sun this week and fairly dry.”

Fish will be close to drops or a bit deeper, depending on water clarity. Stained water will bring fish a bit shallow. Clearer water, fish a bit deeper.

For shallow presentations use light line, like GAMMA Copoly 6-pound test.

Punisher hair jigs soaked in garlic Jack's Juice, Mann's Stingray Grubs, and MIZMO 4-inch chartreuse grubs worked very slowly with repeated casts will work. Allow baits to sit before moving short distances and pausing. Drag split shot rigs slowly stopping frequently with 4-inch worms threaded on 2/0 Mustad light wire hooks.

The cold-water standby Silver Buddy 1/2-ounce lures on 12-pound test GAMMA Edge Fluorocarbon line, burped in the shallows and down drops will find fish. Very short hops followed by stops are needed to hook sluggish bass. Take note of the depth and focus on these spots.

Drop shot will work too. Keep the leader about 6 inches and use the weight to feel for cover. Let the rig settle in these spots a while before moving.

As the water warms toward the end of the week, try more aggressive suspending baits like Lucky Craft Pointer 78 and Bevy Shad.
