The Coast is Clear!

The Everstart Series tournament was here last week and most of the field threw everything at the fish. Stay on the move!

The weather will be a bit unstable, not too bad for fishing. NBC Ch. 4 meteorologist "Weather Kim" Martucci says, “Summer's here bringing a chance of thunderstorms later this week. Highs in the low 90s with a slight cooling for Friday. A few clouds and light winds for the week with overnight lows in the low to mid 70s.”

Finding the clearest water, pop Lucky Craft G-Splash poppers. Tides will be high in the morning so hit shoreline cover. Also give Mann's Waker and Lucky Craft BDS4 a try, braid for the wake bait, 14-16 pound test Gamma Copoly to help keep the Lucky Craft bait over the grass.

As the tide falls and the topwater bite slows, switch to Mann’s Baby 1-Minus in fire tiger patterns. Contact cover and snap free. One key with all moving lures is to make long casts as fish are a bit boat wary. Chatterbaits with white or chartreuse skirts and white craw trailers or shad baits are effective as well.

Dock fishing is becoming more reliable. Use 1/8 ounce Water Gremlin BullShot weights or heavier and skip under docks. Fish are biting on the drop and just moving with the bait. MIZMO tubes, green pumpkin varieties, Texas rigged with a 3/0 Mustad Mega bite hook on 12-16 pound test Gamma Edge Fluorocarbon line.

Hollow frogs work best over grass at lower tides any time of the day. Mann's Super Frog in black on cloudy days, white under sunny skies. 30-60 pound Gamma Torque Braid is essential for hooksets and getting fish out of grass, pads or wood!
