The Redskins have promoted defensive end Doug Worthington and tight end Rob Myers from their practice squad. The Redskins had one roster spot open as LaRon Landry was put on injured reserve last week. The other roster spot was opened up by the release of tight end Dominique Byrd. Worthington was a seventh-round pick of the Steelers in 2010. He flashed some ability during the preseason and he wound up on the practice squad. Myers was signed to the practice squad on Nov. 15. He was undrafted out of Utah State and has been with a few different NFL teams. This is the second time this year that the Redskins have released Byrd. He signed with them on Oct. 26 the day after Chris Cooley was put on injured reserve. The Redskins cut Byrd on Nov. 8 and brought him back on Dec. 7. He was active in both the New England and the Giants games but he did not catch a pass.
