Is this the year that Wizards' forward Andray Blatche breaks out and has an All-Star type season? That's something Blatche has said is a goal of his, to be an All-Star, but it's going to take a lot to make that happen this season.

Blatche has the tools to be a very good player, but he has been dogged by inconsistency on the court and issues off the court ever since he was a rookie nearly seven years ago.

Blatche averaged a career-high 16 points and 8 rebounds last year, but he could have been better. It took Blatche almost half the season to get into shape and by then the Wizards season was already lost.

Blatche's commitment to fitness has always been a concern. If he is in great shape, his game will only get better. If not, well, his game suffers. Blatche will need to be in the best shape of his career to run with John Wall and the young Wizards this season.

The 6'-11" Blatche has a nice touch from the outside but in the past he has relied heavily on the jumper rather than getting down low for easier shots. Blatche can thrive in the Wizards up-tempo style by trailing and finishing on the break, another thing he does very well.

Despite the criticism, the Wizards' brass really believe in Blatche and expect him to have a good -- if not great -- year.

Blatche has a chance finally to shut up his critics, and this effort starts this Friday if he shows up at training camp in shape and ready to go.
