Albert Haynesworths four-game suspension expires as soon as the Redskins season ends Sunday against the New York Giants and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett hopes to speak soon with the defensive tackle.

Haslett has refrained from talking to Haynesworth because the Redskins are still playing games but said Haynesworth asked teammate Vonnie Holliday to tell Haslett he wanted to chat.

Haynesworth hasnt been present since his suspension earlier this month.

Coach Mike Shanahan claimed he did not know whether Haynesworth would be allowed back at Redskin P ark.

If you do know, would you let me know? he said. I really have no clued. I havent even thought about it. Im not even sure what the rules are.

Early next week, Shanahan will meet with some players but wont have exit sessions with the entire roster.

Alexander honored
Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander is this years Redskins recipient of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, which recognizes players for their community service.

The finalists will be invited to the Super Bowl in Dallas and the winner is announced moments before kickoff.

Five years in one place is a long time, especially in the NFL, Alexander said. To enrich myself in the community and give something back, its an awesome feeling. I never thought I would be here. You know my history and to be where Im at is awesome and humbling all in the same breath.

Among Alexanders endeavors include a charity bicycle race, donating school supplies, hosting a youth football clinic his foundation has donated more than 62,000 to support projects locally and his hometown of Oakland, Calif.

Rogers honored, too
Cornerback Carlos Rogers (calf) was the only Redskins player unable to practice although he said he has been able to do some running. Before watching practice, he was named winner of this years Good Guy Award, given by local reporters to the player who is consistently cooperative with the media. Past winners include Champ Bailey, Fred Smoot, Pete Kendall, Jason Campbell and Andre Carter.

Rogers could be playing his last game as a Redskin if hes available to face the Giants. Hes a free agent after the season.

Its in their hands somewhat but its in my hands, too, he said. With contracts, especially this year not being able to get tendered again, its a different story. Hopefully Ill be back.

Ive been here six years and dont want to move.

Williams improvement
Left tackle Trent Williams has survived his rookie year, playing all but one game and going against some of the NFLs elite pass rushers.

I think Trents made a lot of strides, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. Hes as talented as anyone Ive seen. Hes come out competing and what Trents learned is how you have to play every down in the NFL. You can dominate a guy and if you ease up for one play, two plays, they have two sacks and it might be a sack-fumble.

Shanahan has been pleased with Williams work ethic, which was questioned before the draft.

You heard the stuff about Trent but when you go through the draft process, everybody beats everyone up, Shanahan said. What I love about Trent is that he competes and he enjoys competing.
