Alex Ovechkin and Jason Arnott were both non-committal when asked if they would be returning to the Capitals lineup tonight. Bruce Boudreau was also tight lipped.

But based on the players that remained on the ice following the Caps morning skate D.J. King, Jay Beagle, Jason Chimera and Tyler Sloan there is reason to believe that both Ovechkin and Arnott will play tonight.

Arnott and Ovechkin have both been sidelined with undisclosed injuries, with Arnott missing the past six games and Ovechkin missing the past three.

Boudreau said last week that he had hoped to have both Arnott and Ovechkin back in the lineup by the end of this coming week. Ovechkin said yesterday that he was ready to go.
When Chimera and Beagle returned to the locker room about 40 minutes after the majority of their teammates, both players confirmed that they expect to be scratched tonight.

Id rather not talk about it, Chimera said. If your boss came to you and said you were sitting out today, would you be happy?

Chimera is one of only four Capitals to have played all 76 games this season (Brooks Laich, Karl Alzner and John Carlson). Chimera is the Capitals current iron man having played 91 consecutive games.

Chimera has not scored since Feb. 4 a season-high 23 game scoreless drought during which he has three assists.

Semyon Varlamov was the first goalie off the ice this morning, suggesting that he will be the starter tonight against Carolina.

The Capitals have won all five meetings against the Hurricanes this season and are looking to sweep the season series against their fourth different Southeast Division rival over the past three seasons (Tampa Bay in 2008-09 and Florida and Atlanta in 2009-10), Mike Green skated again today in full pads before his teammates took part in their morning skate.
