VIERA, Fla. -- The First Fan won't be throwing out the first ceremonial first pitch at Nationals Park this season.

The Washington Nationals announced plans for Opening Day festivities, and President Barack Obama isn't among those scheduled to appear before Thursday's game against the Atlanta Braves.

Officers from all five branches of the military will throw out the ceremonial first pitches in unison, similar to the scene on Opening Day at Nationals Park in 2009.

Since relocating to the District in 2005, the Nationals have offered a standing invitation to the president to throw out the first pitch each year. George W. Bush performed the ceremonial duty in the 2005 opener at RFK Stadium and again when Nationals Park opened in 2008.

Obama made his first appearance last Opening Day, drawing a mixture of cheers and boos when he walked to the mound in a red Nationals jacket but then pulled a black White Sox cap out of his pocket before throwing the pitch.
