The Washington Nationals have signed two players to minor league deals with invitations to spring training according to their website.
Infielder Jarrett Hoffpauir and pitcher Waldis Joaquin both join the organization with major league experience. Hoffpauir is a 28-year-old infielder who played with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2009 and the Toronto Blue Jays in 2010. He holds a .217 average in 21 career games.
The 24-year-old Joaquin has played three seasons in the majors, all with the San Francisco Giants. He has appeared in 19 career games and sits with a 5.40 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. Joaquin is originally from the Dominican Republic.
