CSNWashington.comNew York--- The song New York, New York, says if you can make it here you can make it anywhere. To get a road win this season the Wizards will have to settle for someplace else after another fourth quarter collapse away from home led to a 115-106 loss to the New York Knicks. The Knicks won the final meeting of the season between the teams with some help from the Wizards. The Knicks turned 20 Wizards turnovers into 24 points and were led in scoring by Amare Stoudemire with 30 points. The Knicks won the season series against the Wizards (3-0) for the first time since 20032004.Turnovers hurt us early and then turnovers hurt us late, said Wizards head coach Flip Saunders after his team dropped to 0-21 on the road. You cant give up 24 points out of your offense and that is not including some of the bad shots that were taken.A thoroughly entertaining game ground to a halt in the fourth quarter as the Wizards struggled with shot selection. Bad possessions and Wizards mistakes (6 turnovers that led to 7 Knicks points in the fourth quarter) helped the Knicks pull away after only leading 93-91 at the end of the third quarter. The Knicks lead the league in three-points shots attempted and made and against the Wizards they lived up to that status. Wilson Chandler added 25 points, including 4 of 8 beyond the arc, as the Knicks finished 10 of 29 from three-point distance. Nick Young recovered from his 1 for 13 shooting night in Saturdays win over the Celtics. Young scored 13 of his team-high 22 points in the third quarter to keep pace with Stoudemire and the Knicks. Stoudemire had15 of his points in the third quarter when the Knicks just outscored the Wizards 31-29The game was almost over in a New York minute when the Wizards stumbled at the start with 10 of their turnovers in the first quarter as they fell behind by as many nine points. Like they did against the Celtics, the Wizards found energy and production off the bench to help tie the game at half-time 62-62.In his second game with the Wizards point-guard Mustafa Shakur ran the offense beyond his experience with the team. In short Shakur, who was playing in the D-League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers up until Saturday, along with Al Thornton and Trevor Booker helped bring the Wizards to life.On defense JaVale McGee had some lapses but showed some encouraging moves in the post to secure a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. John Wall had his typical night with 18 points and 9 assists, but Andray Blatche was never able to get involved and was held to 6 points on 2 of 10 shooting from the field. We lost some of our purpose, Saunders said of the Wizards disappointing fourth quarter. I dont know if they (Wizards players) were trying to have someone else play to win. I told our guys we cant talk about it (road losing streak). We cant worry about it. We have to go home and play."
