With no timetable on the returns of forwards Josh Howard, Andray Blatche and Rashard Lewis, the injury-riddled Wizards had to get some help, and they did, by signing swingman Othyus Jeffers to a 10-day contract.
The 6'5" Jeffers was playing for Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League where he averaged 21.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 38 games. He is a two-time Developmental League All-Star and was the league's Rookie of the Year in 2009. Jeffers has played in 15 NBA games with the San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz, he will wear 12.
Wizards' leading scorer Nick Young has been bothered by a sore knee and missed the Bulls game on Tuesday night. The Wizards expect the shooting guard to return at Toronto Friday night but Jeffers obviously provides insurance.
Howard and Young remain out with sore knees while Blatche is slowed by a sprained right shoulder. The 16-50 Wizards visit 18-49 Toronto Friday night.
