Unless there is a surprise transaction later today, the Capitals will embark on their three-game road trip Monday afternoon without the aid of a defensive callup from the AHL Hershey Bears.

John Erskine, who sat out Saturday nights game against the Devils with an undisclosed injury, and Roman Hamrlik, who sat out the third period of Saturday nights game with his own undisclosed injury, both participated in Mondays practice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

Mike Green, who suffered an injury in the first period of the Capitals 3-1 win over the Devils Friday night, did not practice. The fact that the Capitals did not recall a defenseman from the Bears suggests that Erskine and Hamrlik will be able to play Tuesday night when the Caps visit the Nashville Predators.

If Mondays line combinations were any indication, theyll do so with a different look up front.

Brooks Laich, who took a regular shift on defense on Saturday, centered a line with left wing Jason Chimera and right wing Alex Semin. Marcus Johansson was between left wing Cody Eakin and right wing Joel Ward; and Jeff Halpern centered a fourth line with Mike Knuble on his right and Matt Hendricks on his left, along with extra forward Mathieu Perreault.By the way, you can hear CSNs Alan May at 6:30pm on The Sports Reporters on ESPN 980.
